19 June 2025

Konya Technical University has achieved a significant milestone by being included for the first time in the THE Impact Rankings 2025, published by Times Higher Education (THE), one of the world’s most respected higher education ranking organizations. Assessed against the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations, the University delivered a notable performance by ranking in 14 SDGs. In the overall results, KTÜN was placed in the 1500+ band worldwide.

KTÜN’s results across several SDG categories highlight the University’s strong commitment to sustainability. The University was placed in the 601–800 band worldwide in both Zero Hunger (SDG 2) and Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), ranking 46th and 44th in Türkiye, respectively. In Life on Land (SDG 15), KTÜN was again ranked in the 601–800 band globally and placed 50th in Türkiye. In Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), the University was ranked in the 801–1000 band worldwide and 42nd nationally. KTÜN also recorded its first ranking achievement in Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), where it was placed in the 801+ band globally and ranked 65th in Türkiye.

Despite participating in the rankings for the first time, the University succeeded in placing within the 601–800 and 801–1000 bands across multiple categories. This result reflects KTÜN’s ability to turn its sustainability efforts into measurable outcomes in a relatively short period. The continued implementation of institution-wide strategies focused on sustainability and visibility is regarded as an important step toward further strengthening the University’s international standing.

Commenting on the achievement, Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik said:

“The strong performance of our University in the THE Impact Rankings, in which we have been included for the first time, is a great source of pride for the entire KTÜN family. This achievement clearly demonstrates how seriously we fulfill not only our educational and research responsibilities, but also our environmental and social responsibilities. We will continue our efforts with the same determination in order to make our contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals even more visible. I congratulate all our academic and administrative staff who contributed to this success.”

Konya Technical University contributes actively to global sustainability goals not only through its academic work, but also through its socially and environmentally responsible institutional approach.

Having made sustainability an integral part of its institutional culture, KTÜN remains committed to expanding its impact by further strengthening its environmental, social, and economic responsibilities.
