Founded in 2018, Konya Technical University drew attention with its strong performance across a wide range of indicators in the 2025 University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report published by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). Despite being a young university, KTÜN stood out nationally in research and development, student engagement, and scientific productivity, supported by an academic legacy dating back to 1970.
The report was prepared on the basis of 2023–2024 academic year data and 2024 fiscal year data from 201 universities with associate and undergraduate students, selected from 208 higher education institutions active during the 2023–2024 academic year. In addition, the Türkiye University Experience Survey (TÜDA) was implemented for the first time this year, with the participation of 264,344 students from 205 universities, and its findings on student satisfaction were incorporated into the report.
The evaluation covered the areas of Education and Training, Research and Development, Projects and Publications, Internationalization, Sustainability, Community Service, and Social Responsibility. New indicators such as digital/web accessibility and science communication were also included in the report for the first time.
Strong Participation in Technology Competitions
KTÜN ranked 9th in Türkiye with the participation of 637 students in technology and research competitions organized by prestigious institutions such as TEKNOFEST, TÜBİTAK, and TÜBA. With 142 teams competing in the same events, the University rose to 6th place nationally in this category. KTÜN also ranked 19th in Türkiye with 8 awards, further strengthening its academic and technological visibility.
Strong Performance in International Publications
The University also achieved notable results in international academic productivity. KTÜN ranked 20th in Türkiye with 1.42 Web of Science-indexed journal articles and book publications per faculty member. In terms of citation performance, it ranked 19th nationally with a citation rate of 83.8%, once again demonstrating the impact of its scientific output.
Growing Momentum in Patents and International Collaboration
KTÜN also delivered a strong performance in intellectual property, ranking 8th in Türkiye with an 11.0% rate of positively concluded patents. The University was also recognized among institutions showing steady improvement in international collaboration in Web of Science-indexed publications.
Although only a short time has passed since its establishment, Konya Technical University continues to build on its strong institutional background and maintain its upward trajectory in research, innovation, student participation, and scientific productivity. The University aims to further strengthen its position within the Turkish higher education system by advancing its achievements year by year.
Comparison with the Previous Year
The 2025 University Monitoring and Evaluation General Report shows that KTÜN has gained significant momentum in many areas. In particular, the University recorded a marked rise in student participation in technology- and research-based competitions. In 2025, KTÜN ranked 9th in Türkiye in terms of the number of students participating in competitions organized by TEKNOFEST, TÜBİTAK, and TÜBA, and 6th in terms of the number of teams. It also entered the rankings for the first time in the category of awards received, placing 19th nationally.
The University maintained a stable performance in academic publishing. It preserved its 20th-place national ranking in both 2024 and 2025 in the number of Web of Science-indexed journal articles and book publications per faculty member. In citation performance, KTÜN continued to demonstrate academic impact, ranking 19th in Türkiye in the 2025 report with a citation rate of 83.8%.
In terms of industry collaboration, KTÜN ranked 5th nationally in 2024 based on the budget of projects carried out jointly with industry partners at the national level. The University also recorded a notable improvement in intellectual property performance. While it did not place in the rankings in 2024, it rose to 8th in Türkiye in 2025 with an 11.0% rate of positively concluded patents.

Commenting on the results, Rector Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik emphasized that this achievement is the outcome of an institutional culture that promotes high-quality academic output, a student-centered approach, and a strong focus on research and development. He stated that the University’s success, spanning from education and research to technology competitions and international publications, is the product of a planned and sustainable development strategy.
